The differences between these sectors are mostly about constraint rather than craft. A private home is usually occupied throughout, so the questions are about dust, access and how long the kitchen is out of use. A school or community building has to keep operating around the work, which pushes the difficult stages into holidays and evenings and makes the programme less negotiable than the specification.
Commercial work tends to turn on a different axis again: a date when the space has to be trading, and a tolerance for disruption set by whoever is paying rent on it. Each of those pressures changes how a project should be sequenced, and getting that sequence right at the start is usually what determines whether the finish date holds.
