Community buildings work hard. At St Paul’s Methodist Church, the opportunity was to improve the connection between the social space and the garden area.

The completed upgrade introduced new aluminium sliding doors, creating a direct and practical route outside. The intervention makes it easier to move between the building and the garden, whether the space is being used for an event, a group activity or a quieter day-to-day gathering.

Work to established community buildings needs a thoughtful balance. New elements should perform well and feel contemporary, while sitting comfortably alongside the fabric and character that people already know. Here, the clean lines of the new doors provide a clear point of access without competing with the existing stonework around them.
